Recare—the heart of prevention

Most of our patients enjoy robust health, and we are thankful for that.

In fact, if you are faithful about your Recare Hygiene Appointment, we probably see you more often than your physician does.

As your primary health care provider we have an added weighty responsibility: early detection of disease.

When we size up the health of your gums, tongue, neck and jaw, we look and we feel. We “invisibly” observe your general health, head, skin, glands, sinuses and teeth.

What are we looking for? Anything wrong. Among them: dry mouth, bacterial infections, any lesions on the mucous membranes, gum color and texture, soreness or ulcerations.

It’s especially important for you to share with us a general health problem you may have noticed. Or changes in medications. Getting the whole picture is helpful and important.

There are more than 200 known diseases of the oral cavity. Not only can an oral problem signal local trouble, but may indicate something systemic and something throughout your body.

For this reason, your six-month visit may be the most important exam you have all year.

If we find a cavity, that we can fix. If we find evidence of something more serious, we have the advantage of early detection.

We take these exams seriously and hope all our patients do so also.
